The Latino community is one of the highest ethnicities that suffer from mental illness. Some people, however, don’t feel quite comfortable talking about such a touchy subject, especially if it pertains to a close family member or loved one.
In response, Halle Berry has taken on the task to raise the awareness
of mental illnesses among our communities through the film “Frankie and Alice.”
Lionsgate, Codeblack Films and the executive producers of “Introducing
Dorothy Dandridge” and “Lackawanna Blues” bring us a mind bending drama
starring Academy Award winner Halle Berry.
Frankie and Alice is inspired by the
remarkable true story of an African American GoGo dancer “Frankie” with dissociative identity disorder (DID) who
struggles to remain her true self while fighting against two very unique alter
egos: a seven-year-old child named “Genius,” and a southern white racist woman named
“Alice.”
In order to stop the multiple voices in her head, Frankie (Halle
Berry) works together with a psychotherapist (Stellan Skarsgard) to uncover and
overcome the mystery of the inner ghosts that haunt her.
Halle Berry never fails to amaze us in her films, so
make sure you go and check out this heartwarming, and awakening movie about
mental illness!
