Maná is Latin Grammy Person of the Year

The Latin Recording Academy® today announced six-time Latin GRAMMY® and four-time GRAMMY® winning rock-pop band Maná will be honored as the 2018 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year™ for their extraordinary creative accomplishments and philanthropic contributions to the Latin community, as well as for their steadfast and dedicated support of environmental preservation and protection, as well as human rights. This award carries additional prestige and significance as it will be the first time a band receives the Person of the Year recognition.

"Mana, is the first concert that I ever attended. I was 15, watched it with my brother in Reynosa Mexico. It's always a memorable experience watching them perform or listening to their music. Felicidades!" - Spoiled Latina

The Person of the Year award is bestowed upon musicians of Ibero-American heritage in recognition of their artistic achievement in the Latin music industry and their profound humanitarian efforts. Past honorees include Marc Anthony, Miguel Bosé, Roberto Carlos,Plácido Domingo, Emilio Estefan, Gloria Estefan, Vicente Fernández, Juan Gabriel, Gilberto Gil, Juan Luis Guerra, Julio Iglesias, José José, Ricky Martin, Carlos Santana, Alejandro Sanz,Joan Manuel Serrat, Shakira and Caetano Veloso.

"Maná (Fher, Alex, Sergio and Juan) is an iconic band with a profound social and environmental consciousness that has created captivating and vibrant music for over three decades," said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy. "Fusing mainly funk, reggae, ska, bolero, and a spectrum of Latin rhythms mixed with pure rock; Maná has created true musical anthems. In addition to becoming worldwide Latin music icons, their members have championed for social justice, global equality, and encouraged environmental protection using the force of their melodies and lyrics, which repeatedly remind our communities of our strength, resilience, and our inherent cultural value."

"It is a grand and unexpected recognition to an extensive career, a beautiful and passionate one that we continue to enjoy as if it were the first day. We are flattered that the most prestigious Latin music organization is recognizing us. Undoubtedly, it will be moving to hear our songs performed by talented colleagues and friends. We hope to continue using our voices and this honor to raise awareness about environmental concerns and human rights issues around the world," said Fher on behalf of the band.

Maná will be honored and celebrated at a star-studded gala featuring a glamorous tribute concert, including renditions of their renowned repertoire performed by an impressive array of notable artists and friends on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

One of the world's most influential Latin rock-pop bands, Maná—currently comprised of Fher Olvera, Alex González, Sergio Vallín, and Juan Calleros—have 133 gold records, 256 platinum records, and more than 48 No. 1 hits worldwide. Classics such as "No Ha Parado De Llover," "Rayando el Sol", "De Pies A Cabeza," "Labios Compartidos," "Bendita Tu Luz," and "Mi Verdad," among many others, have become essential songs of the Latin American soundtrack. With their latest tour in the United States, the "Latino Power Tour"— they traveled to various cities promoting the importance of the Latin vote in the past presidential elections.

Throughout the last three decades, they have used their voice and international recognition to raise awareness about environmental, social, political and human rights issues worldwide. In 1996, Maná created the Fundación Ecológica Selva Negra, the band's philanthropic entity, which preserves endangered species, provides educational programs on the environment, and contributes and organizes community development projects.

Their success has crossed borders, they have surmounted every obstacle, and achieved a global presence where people from all over the world, whether in Israel or New York, sing their songs in Spanish, generating an emotional connection despite language barriers.

The net proceeds from the gala will go toward the charitable work of the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation® whose mission is to further international awareness and appreciation of the significant contributions of Latin music and its makers to the world's culture through scholarships, fellowships, grants, and educational programs. The Foundation's primary charitable focus is to provide scholarships to students interested in Latin music with financial need, as well as grants to scholars and organizations worldwide for research and preservation of diverse Latin music genres.

Nine-time Latin GRAMMY and three-time GRAMMY winner Rafa Sardina will be the executive producer of the prestigious event. Greg Fera will serve as the producer, and Gustavo Borner, who has received eleven Latin GRAMMYs™ and five GRAMMYs will be in charge of the sound for the night. The musical production and coordination of the event will be managed by Moon Moosic, Inc.

An Afternoon in Houston with Prince Royce

I had the opportunity to moderate the "Ask Me Anything" Q&A session with Prince Royce this week in Houston. Sprint brought the fans closer to what they are passionate about including their favorite musicians and it was a great time with an intimate group of lucky fans who were able to sit in while we went live on FB for the Q&A. We also gave some backpacks full of goodies to some lucky guests.

To watch the full video of our interview click here

My day started early, as I had my hair done with Vanessa aka V Houston Stylist she literally brought my hair and vision to life.

Gio, once again did my make up. She also did my makeup for SL Day. I love these girls. It's great to have a crew who understands your hustle and want to see you shine. Gio, does weddings and tons of shoots and Vanessa is a hair guru in the making. I love that she's passionate about her craft. Is not afraid to educate herself and grow her business and her hustle is inspiring!

3rd Annual Spoiled Latina Day did not disappoint!

3rd Annual Spoiled Latina Day did not disappoint!

I hosted the third annual Spoiled Latina Day on July 15th to empower and celebrate women by providing them with a space to network, grow and be spoiled. It was a day to celebrate our individual successes within our community.

Often times you go to events and although it is marketed as a women empowerment event, the energy is off or something is missing. Not at Spoiled Latina Day. Everyone left empowered, they networked and made business connections that in turn will make their business flourish. The women came in one way and walked out a whole different person.  That is what SL Day is all about. Each Woman has their our own aspirations in life and when they come together with an open mind and heart to be inspired by other women in the room to learn they grow and build each other up and most of the times, business grows too!

The comments about SL Day from ladies from all over Houston and those who traveled from San Antonio, Dallas and Austin were all so sweet and motivating. Thankful to all the amazing sponsors, the beautiful attendees who came dressed to kill and to my team for the hard work you put into making my day memorable. I am already planning #SLDay2019!

To my social media family, thank you for the support. Many of you have been following me before Anthony was born, and have seen the growth. A lot of you are new followers and are finding out how awesome I am. lol kidding --- I want to thank you for the likes and the comments and interaction with each other on my pages. I love my Spoiled Latina community. Just in case you didn't know, I value your comment sand likes, that is my business. The same brands that sponsored SL Day and many other campaigns I've worked through out my 10 years of blogging notice my interaction and the engagement between my followers and I....  So every like and comment means so much!

Did you attend Spoiled Latina Day? Tell me your thoughts and what you would tell your friends about the day and why they shouldn't miss next year!

Spoiled Latina Day 2018 OOTD

Spoiled Latina Day 2018 OOTD

I cannot believe that after so much planning, SL Day is over. Almost a week ago, I celebrated my city proclomation with a celebration at The Space HTX. A cool, all white warehouse East of downtown Houston. With all the planning I had the last thing I wanted to do was pick an outfit. I like to spoil myself so I called my personal stylist Marisol at Macy's Galleria to help me out. Marisol always makes me feel extra "spoiled" by having my own dressing room with multiple looks for me to choose from, she's not a pushy sales person which I love and she does her best to capture your style based on our preference and personality.

My search began on Monday the week of SLDay, Yes that same week...smh but as a Libra that I am, its normal to be last minute.

SL Pop Up Shop at Summer Fest

My weekend was so eventful. I hosted my 2nd pop up shop at the HTX Boss Babes Summer Fest and I am so glad that I did. I met so many of my followers, amazing women and the cutest children because of course motherhood. The event brought out so many cute businesses that were all owned by women. Gaby and Elyse did a great job in selecting the perfect mix of vendors to show at Summer Fest.

As a Blogger, I decided to make some merchandise that represents me and other Jefitas - Jefita Bonita is my line of cool mercy for the modern day latina. I have Boss Mom T's, Jefita Bonita T's and another shirt that says Powerful Queen Beautiful Latina which sold out, and my hats come in different colors and my denim Spoiled Latina hat was the most popular item of the weekend.

My conchas were also a big hit!

Thanks to everyone for the kind words, for taking pictures with me!

See you guys at Spoiled Latina Day!

Things to do in Houston for Memorial Day Weekend

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Memorial Day is a special day for us to remember our fallen soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The 3 day weekend is a perfect time to spend quality time with family, go outdoors and enjoy our freedom.

Houstonians have so many choices in places to partake in the celebrations of Memorial Day but I broke it down to a few on The Isiah Factor on Fox 26.

Whatever you choose to do for the holiday, make sure you have fun and are safe!

Cheers my friends!

Honored on Mother's Day

Mother's Day at my house is everyday, I promise it is. My husband is a sweet heart, he puts in countless of hours making sure that things run smoothly at home, we go out for massages at least once a month, he treats me to countless mid day lunches and spoils me with making sure that my business is running smoothly and that I am not stressing over anything. Which is hard, because LIFE!

Yvette Adams, Founder of Diamonds and Pearls Foundation
This Mother's Day was special and different, I was honored by Diamonds and Pearls Mothers Foundation an organization who strongly believes in my brand recognized me for my community contributions.

Diamonds and Pearls Mothers Foundation is a Houston organization that works with women and children to help them be self sufficient. The organization honored other women along with a few friends in the industry who are also contributing their amazing talents to society. The Gala, was something sweet that my family was able to witness and it was special for my son to be there with me.

Congrats to all, and thank you so much for my honor!

What I wore to Latin Billboard Awards

What I wore to Latin Billboard Awards

This year the hottest Latin superstars in music gathered in Las Vegas for the 2018 Latin Billboards and I was going to be there covering the show for Latina Magazine so first order of business was my #OOTD.
Thankfully for me, I did not have to stress out like I normally do. One quick call to My Stylist at Macy's and they had me covered. I'm going to let you in on a little secret. "My Stylist" at Macy's is a  free....gratis.....yes! complimentary service that is available at all Macy's stores nationwide where you can simply make a call, describe your wants and styles to your stylist and they will gather the looks, meet you in a private dressing room and style you all for the low low price of NADA!
This is the easiest, most convenient way to shop, especially when you're on a time crunch or just like me - are always too busy to walk in the store and look for the perfect outfit.

I actually met with "My Stylist" in Macy's Fashion Show in Las Vegas. They had an assortment of dresses, a variety of colors that I honestly wanted to take them all home, but was there for 1 dress, 1 event so I had to FOCUS!! lol

I chose a fabulous long navy blue dress by Betsy Adam
my accessories were by Givenchy
and I wore my Gucci tennis shoes for comfort due to my foot injury

take a look at my video and leave a comment below if you love the outfit!!
