Latina Actress On The Uprise
Friday, March 21, 2014
Latinas have emerged in the entertainment industry since the
1920’s. Actresses such as Dolores Del Rio paved the way for Latinas in
Hollywood.
However, at that point in Hollywood history Latinas were limited to
certain roles or characters such as being mysterious, sultry, and guided by
their emotions.
As time has passed we have seen an increase of Latinas in
Hollywood, some of who include Salma Hayek, Eva Mendez, Jennifer Lopez and
Sofia Vergara.
The range of characters portrayed by Latinas have also expanded
significantly, and the Latino audience has progressively grown in Hollywood as
well.
Latina’s are no longer being displayed as JUST the maids, or the exotic
women on the big screen; those days are becoming history.
An uprising Latina actress has made her way to the
entertainment industry who shows a promising future.
Suveria Mota, born in the
Dominican Republic, moved to New York City at the age of four along with her
family. Suveria started getting involved in dancing, and acting as early as
early as elementary school.
She pursued a degree in Speech Pathology and
Audiology at Lehman College, but as soon as she graduated she went on to pursue
her long life dream: to become an actress in Hollywood.
Just a few months later
she joined SAG-AFTRA, an American labor union that represents over 105,000 film
and television principal and performers worldwide.
She has featured in various
shows such as “Glee,” and is currently filming various movies such as "Wolf on the Moon" and "Nocturnal Reflections."
Latina actresses have faced various stereotypes and
obstacles to emerge in the entertainment industry, but actresses such as
Suviera are continuing to pave the way to improve the outlook on Latina
actresses.
She is pursuing her dream, and is not letting the stereotypes or the
limited roles stop her from empowering herself as a LATINA actress in
Hollywood.
I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of this Dominican beauty in the near
future.

Bebe just gave us another reason to love them even more!
As we welcome the official first day of spring, sunglasses
are a MUST have for just about everyone, and what better than the new stylish
collection of Bebe Eyewear. From new assimilations of the classics, to
traditional shapes, Bebe incorporates mirrored lenses, the plastic vs. metal
combination, one of our favorite’s full volume glam shapes, and much more!
What’s not to love?!
The face of Bebe Nina Agdal helped launch the brand’s
sunglass spring/summer campaign last Friday in Miami, Florida. Fans eagerly lined
up around the block to meet the Sports Illustrated cover girl. Agdal signed
autographs and modeled the new Bebe eyewear collection.

Love Yourself
Almost everyone is familiar with the saying “Your attitude
determines how your day goes.”
Well believe it or not, it’s significantly true.
Start off the day with a positive attitude, and your day will go by smoother.
Women should learn how to be happy
with themselves from every single aspect.
Everyone has a vision of what “perfect”
looks like, however, in that process we lose the value of ourselves.
Well here’s a challenge.
Once a week, as soon as you wake up, take about ten minutes
to jot down
what attributes of yourself you’re happy with.
1. My smile
2. My determination
3. The way I ask for help when I know I need it
4. How well I finished my last project
5. How I remembered my friend's birthday
6. How clean I have kept my house this week
7. Being my own inspiration to go workout
8. My ability to keep people calm
9. The way I am able to keep myself on task
10. My ability to live in the moment and not on the internet
It’s very easy to point out your flaws,
but once you take a
minute to recognize what makes you special,
what makes you unique, you’ll
appreciate yourself a little more.
We are HUMAN BEINGS.
There is no such thing as perfect.
Our
attributes as well as our flaws are what make us ourselves.
Don’t expect to find happiness in another person,
happiness comes from within.
When you love yourself,
when you do what you love,
when you
focus on yourself,
you give off positive vibes that illuminate your
surroundings,
and you attract even more positivity.
It’s a cycle.
If you’re not happy with your weight, don’t wait for the new
year to come around, take thirty minutes out of your day to workout.
If you’re not happy with your relationship, reevaluate it.
If you’re not happy with something in your life, take the
initiative to change it,
don’t let comfort or the fear of change keep you in a
stuck position.
Change doesn’t come in an instant. It takes work, it takes
effort, and it takes passion.
Be your own best motivator, whatever makes you happy, go for
it.
Happiness is reachable, it’s all up to YOU to SPOIL YOURSELF with it.
XO,
Hennessy V.S celebrates GT Garza's Legacy of Ritchie Valens mixer
Monday, March 3, 2014
This past weekend, I was excited to support GT Garza at his mixtape mixer. Hennessy V.S supported the release at a private event held at King of the Clippers barbershop in Houston on Sunday. The support of latinos and latinas in the establishment was humbling to Garza, who at various times of the event thanked me for supporting and for providing Hennessy. Guests of Garza, sipped on complimentary Hennessy mixed drinks, listened to the album, heard Garza talk about the tracks and how he came up with them.
