Arriba, Cerados, Y Seguros

Anthony is growing older and as time has passed I have had to learn how prevent accidents from happening in our home. Kids are “new here”, and their minds are so inquisitive of things especially things that they shouldn't be getting into…especially in the laundry room. Accidents can happen and this is why Tide® is encouraging parents to

Keep Them Up, Keep Them Closed, Keep Them Safe.” Ideally somewhere that isn't visible in my home works. If my son hasn't seen it, than he's not thinking about it. If you have cabinets or storage space I encourage you to do the same. Store them above where the kids can’t reach and close the door so they aren't visible and wondering about it.

As much as I love cute clothes, and be out and be social - reality hits when it’s laundry day. And with all the work I have going on, I sometimes forget that I need to wash my favorite clothes separately. Now, I don't have to worry, thanks to Tide® PODS™ + Downy®. Tide® PODS™ + Downy® is the first detergent packet designed to clean and protect clothes from stretching or losing their color. These chemist are so high tech now, that I no longer have to measure and / or forget to add Downy® to the wash because the PODS™ include it….genius! 1 packet, laundry done!

My mother often comes to visit and I love my mom, but as she is getting older her vision is worsening and when she visits she LOVES to wash clothes. I have a lot of clothes and not to mention a lot of cute colorful clothes that she accidentally throws in the wash with not so colorful clothes - luckily for me the Pods contain ingredients that are suitable for fabrics that are traditionally cannot be washed with fabric softeners but can benefit from conditioning, so it’s a win-win! My mom loves the convenience of just grabbing a packet and tossing it into the washer machine. It’s safe, convenient and we’re all happy.

#ArribaYLejos Tide and Gain team up with Safe Kids Worldwide
My beautiful niece Melody and my son Anthony
I am collaborating with Tide and Gain to bring you tips on how to keep your home safe for our little loving creatures.  It is summer time and kids are not at school which means they are trying to get into anything they can get their hands on.  Young children are explorers often by touch and at times they want to taste and put things in their mouths. My son is one of those explorers, so I am glad that Safe Kids Worldwide, Tide and Gain have teamed up to teach parents about keeping kids safe around laundry packets.

With liquid laundry packets gaining popularity, now used by 20 percent of U.S. households (including ours), parents need to be aware of this emerging risk for children.
Did you know that between 2012 and 2013, more than 700 children who were 5 and under experienced serious effects as a result of liquid laundry packets, with the impact greatest among 1 and 2 year olds?
In fact, the poison centers received more than 33,000 calls from 2012 through May 2015.

Parents we must do better!

As parents who want to keep the house clean and organized, we must be aware of where we store our hazardous cleaning products. If children get into laundry packets, the health risk can be significant. These powerful packets contain highly concentrated detergent that may cause loss of vision, severe eye burns, difficulty breathing, excessive vomiting...all in all not something we want our children to experience.

Helpful Tips:

  • Whatever you do with your cleaning supplies, make sure that you keep them Arriba y Lejos -up and away from our little people and even our puppies.  High and up behind a locked door.  Don't keep them on the ground close to make it easier on you.
  • Lock Laundry rooms - they often get forgotten about, because we think "it's the laundry room, the kids won't come in and play in here". Well, lets think about this again, it's summer time and lets say they want to play hide and go seek in the house...a good place to hide is the laundry room and if your child is anything like mine. He wants to discover new things and may find that the liquid laundry packets looks cool and smooshy, just never know what they will do with it.
  • Keep packets in their original container and keep them closed
  • IF a children gets into them, call the Poison Help Number immediately, 1800-222-1222
