Road Trip to Corpus for Selena Festival

Friday, May 15, 2015

A few weeks ago, I took a road trip to Corpus Christi to visit the Selena museum and memorial during the Selena "Fiesta De La Flor" festival. Had a fun 2 days with my friends, we laughed a whole lot, visited the grave site, the memorial on Ocean drive and walked through the museum. Seeing all her clothes which didn't look expensive while in glass but on Selena the outfits looked expensive. The many awards she had received while alive, were a sad memory for those visiting that weekend.
Forever in our hearts!

A Selena Festival for the 20th anniversary of her death? Say it aint so...

The Selana God's have answered!!

In honor of the 20th anniversary of Selena's death, the city of Corpus Christi Texas (my birth city) will honor La Reina with a 2 day celebration this coming April 17th and 18th called
 "Fiesta de la Flor

Not many details have been made public but the city of Corpus Christi City Council did approve  the decision on Tuesday

Paulette Kruge, the CEO of the Corpus Christi Convention & Visitors Bureau mentioned "Our team wanted to honor this beautiful talented woman for the hearts that she has touched and the substantial contributions that she has made to the culture of our city."

I am extremely excited about this and can't wait for more info to be shared and to actually BE THERE!!

What do you think? Who will you go with?

19 years after her death, the Queen of Tex-Mex is more alive than ever.

Selena Quintanilla Perez, or better known as just Selena was a singer/songwriter who revolutionized Tejano music in the 90’s.

Born in Lake Jackson, Texas she started singing at the very young age of three years old and recorded her first album at the age of twelve.

She quickly rose to the top of the charts, along with her band “The Dinos.”

Selena's hubby releasing a book

Selena's hubby Chris Perez has decided to finally release a book about him and Selena's love life. He says the fans have wanted something like this for years. Some critics wonder whether the timing is right or not, being that the album is being released.  Either way, should be a nice intimate look into their romance. I'd read it.

Would you want to read it?

Selena's Brother Marries- with Selena on his back

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

We all Adore Selena, but some people think this is just too tacky. A.B who is Selena's brother got married for the 4th time and in honor of his sister wore a suit jacket with the slain singer on his back.  Guanabee posted pics and from what it seems it was a cute wedding. The bride is ...get this... 25 years old, making her 6 when Selena was murdered!

Selena on the Cristina Show

I grew up in Corpus Christi, not too far from where Selena lived. #TrueStory My mother worked for a local radio station in CC and I remember seeing Selena's phone number on the wall near the front desk. Being the person that I am, I decided to dial the number. Phone rang, A girl answered, I asked..."Can I speak to Selena" mind you I was about 6 or 7 years old... lol anyway her father finally got on the phone and said she wasn't available to speak. I said "thank you" and hung up. I just remember being inspired and obviously looked up to her in some kind of way for the thought to even call her, to come to mind.
